Across the globe, Office Depot is committed to improving the environmental performance of our suppliers, our
customers and ourselves. We take a holistic viewpoint that we believe truly differentiates us from our competitors.
Our environmental vision is to increasingly "buy green," "be green" and "sell green."
Buy Green: Aspiring to "buy green" ensures that we work very hard to maintain a transparent, low-impact supply chain. As one of the world's largest resellers of paper, our most material environmental impact is sourcing forest fiber from companies that follow sustainable forestry practices. In 2004, we created the Forest & Biodiversity Conservation Alliance to help assure the sustainability of forests from which we source.
Be Green: As a Fortune 150 company with a global presence, we understand the environmental impact of our operations. To lessen that impact, we have implemented a variety of initiatives and updated systems, including: spending over $20 million in lighting retrofits, energy system upgrades and air conditioner replacements; converting our fleet of delivery trucks to the Sprinter Vehicle, which is 40% more fuel efficient than the box truck; investing in renewable energy; and building a Gold LEED Certified store in Austin, Texas.
Sell Green: As part of our vision to "sell green," we carry more than 3,000 products with environmental attributes. We provide these products to our customers through a variety of channels: The Green Book - a catalog of green products, tips and solutions; Office Depot's designated green website (
www.officedepot.com/buygreen); and in our retail stores.
Throughout this press kit, you will find information on Office Depot's green products, services and initiatives; recommended tips and products for eco-minded customer; and links to Office Depot's environmental reports. For a complete overview of Office Depot's commitment, please click here.
