Racing Back To School With Office Depot And Tony Stewart
At Office Depot, the Taking Care Of Business motto applies not only to helping customers succeed in the business world, but also to providing children with the tools they need to succeed in the classroom. Through its own programs, as well as the efforts of the Office Depot Foundation, Office Depot is committed to taking care of communities by providing support for teachers and schools across the nation.
Tony Stewart, a two-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion and driver of the No. 14 Office Depot/Old Spice Chevrolet, joined forces with Office Depot in this mission in 2009. With Stewart's help last year, The Office Depot Foundation celebrated a monumental achievement by donating its 2-millionth backpack since founding the National Backpack Program in 2001.
During the 2010 back-to-school season, Stewart will again visit Office Depot stores across the country to help distribute backpacks filled with essential school supplies to schools and non-profit organizations that work with children in need. Office Depot also supports schools through its "5% Back to Schools" program, which allows customers buying school supplies to have 5 percent of their purchase donated back to the school of their choice. Since the program launched in 1999, Office Depot has given back millions of dollars in credits to schools across the United States and Canada. Additionally, The Office Depot "Star Teacher" Program provides teachers with instant discounts and special promotional offers to help them save money and get the tools they need for their classrooms.
